Consistency is tricky for many people.  The number one issue with being productive is that you have to develop the right attitude.  I was talking to someone the other day and they brought up a critical point, which I had never thought about.  Consistency is made up of two sides positive and negative.   The negative side causes us to be habitually inconsistent which results in being late, procrastination, forgetfulness, and neglecting to do the things we promise to do. The positive side leads to more productivity in our life because we develop consistent habits in time management, awareness, and self-management skills in our daily lives.  That’s the bonus of having systems in place to help us be consistent.

Today’s focus is developing skills that lead to real consistency?  For some people, the problem is a negative mindset that has become a limiting belief.  This type of thinking is harmful because it leads to inconsistent habits.  A habit is anything you do for more than 21 days. If you want to exercise consistently, you have to do it everyday or practice.  You must make the time, which means you have to manage your time consistently. If you’re going to exercise every day at 6 a.m. then that means, you will get up and do the workout.

Be deliberately consistent in your promises, by doing the things you say you are going to do for people. It’s not just doing it; it’s also about how do you plan to get it done.  You may need to write yourself a note or find an accountability partner.  Someone that is being consistent in their life and you see it in the fruits of their labor. This person can help guide you along the way. They can remind you of the things you promised to do. Who do can you call on right now for support? These are the people that you need on your side.

We need to adjust our mindsets and understand consistency is a positive thing. It doesn’t mean that you’re going to have to fit into somebody else’s mold.

Sometimes I think we fight too hard to be different and unique.  Guess what? We are different and unique. We are “Fearfully and Wonderfully made “Psalm 139:14. That means that each one of us is different, we possess unique skills within ourselves, our personalities, and Spirit. There will never be anyone else like you.

As we work on this mindset and attitude, we must put some helpers and tools into place.  Buying calendars, gadgets, sticky notes, whatever those things are that can help and use them. Stop resisting! Are you resisting right now?  Making excuses and trying to excuse away your lack of action or behavior? If so you are not alone.

Just relax a little because it always goes back to the mindset. First, we have to fix our attitude and mindset about consistency (doing positive things on a regular basis). Choose tools that are unique to you, things that you know will be beneficial to your success.

Now comes the fun part, practice being consistent.  Do the things you have set out to do.  If you are a rewards person and want to give yourself something midway during the journey, then do it again once you have achieved that goal.

Doing so will help you be less stressed, more productive, and happy.

Take small steps daily by doing things that are meaningful in your life; this will always bring more light and happiness back to you.
