When God Speaks Listen

Thank goodness Elijah could recognize the voice of GOD.

1Kings 19:11-12   11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

Take Action

How many times have we missed out on an opportunity or a great relationship because we did not recognize the whisper of GOD?  That little urging inside of that is calling for action.  Instead of listening and recognizing that this voice is good, we continue to hide or cower in fear.

Fear of the unknown, trapped in a mental fog of negativity.  Sure no one is trying to kill you like the great prophet, but each time you yield to fear your dreams are destroyed.   Your joy is stomped out each time you don’t act.  Sure there will be other opportunities, but it won’t be the same.  “So why miss it now?”

I know you’re saying, “That’s easy for you to say.”  I’m just like many of you. I was trapped, unyielding and afraid to move when I heard the whisper.  Self-doubt had me in a choke hold, but I soon learned that I could take small steps each day to build my strength up.  Just like Elijah I first had to get to a place of safety. Next, I began to cry out to the Lord in prayer. My next step became rest and restoration.  Yes, my body was tired too.  Then came the best part practice, I waited and listened for that whisper, that inner urging which propelled me into action.

Speak Life

Today as you are praying and waiting, I hope this short passage has given you courage.  Courage to go after the things that you know is good.  Change that song in your heart and when the Lord calls answer, “It is I Lord may your WILL be done.”
